HOS#589 | 2007 | 68.6 m | DP1 Multi-Purpose Offshore Support Vessel | ROV/AUV/UUV Capable | For P&C Sale
2007-built DP1 Offshore Supply Vessel engineered and customized for specialized offshore support, subsea intervention, aerospace recovery, military operations, deepwater deployment campaigns, and advanced ROV/AUV/UUV support activities. Constructed by Thoma-Sea Ship Builders, LLC and operating under USA flag with ABS Load Line and DP1 notation together with USCG certification under dual subchapter L/I, the vessel has established a proven operational track record supporting sensitive offshore and subsea mission profiles requiring enhanced deck capability, flexible deployment arrangements, and dynamic positioning performance.
The vessel measures 68.6 m LOA with a beam of 14.6 m, molded depth of 4.9 m, light draft of 1.8 m, and loaded operational draft of 4.1 m. Deadweight capacity is approximately 2,528 MT with reported tonnage of 996 GRT and 677 NRT. Hull and superstructure construction are both steel, providing a robust offshore platform suitable for demanding marine operations and long-duration offshore deployments.
Main propulsion is provided by 2 x Caterpillar 3516 diesel engines producing a combined output of approximately 4,000 BHP driving 2 x Rolls Royce 360° azimuth Z-drives, delivering exceptional maneuverability and station-keeping performance during subsea and offshore support activities. Additional maneuvering capability is provided through a dedicated bow thruster arrangement powered by a Cummins QSK19M engine rated at approximately 660 BHP. Electrical power generation is supported by 2 x Cummins K-19 generator sets rated at 563 kW each together with a John Deere emergency generator rated at 99 kW. The vessel is fitted with a Beier INCS-2000 DP control system providing DP1 capability for precision offshore positioning operations.
Performance characteristics include a maximum speed of approximately 13 kn and economical cruising speed of approximately 12 kn with fuel consumption reported at approximately 84 gal/hr maximum and 80 gal/hr cruising. Cargo and operational flexibility are enhanced through an exceptionally large clear deck arrangement measuring approximately 45.1 m x 13.4 m with total deck area of approximately 605 m², representing one of the largest clear deck configurations within its vessel category. This arrangement allows extensive mission-specific outfitting including subsea spreads, portable accommodation systems, launch and recovery systems, scientific packages, military support equipment, aerospace handling systems, and offshore construction spreads.
The vessel is fitted with a substantial 10-ton A-frame measuring approximately 24 ft wide by 20 ft tall, supporting launch and recovery operations for subsea systems, autonomous vehicles, oceanographic packages, aerospace equipment, and sensitive cargo deployments. Operational history includes extensive utilization in ROV, AUV, and UUV support campaigns together with offshore deepwater deployment and recovery operations, marine construction support, military exercises, and transportation of sensitive technical equipment.
Liquid handling systems include drill water and potable water capacities of approximately 508.8 m³ together with fuel capacity of approximately 446.7 m³ and bulk mud storage consisting of 6 x 28.3 m³ tanks. Transfer and discharge systems provide high-capacity pumping capability including liquid mud transfer rates of approximately 3,182 LPM. Auxiliary systems include Mission Magnum mud pumps, circulating pumps, bulk compressor systems, fire monitor rated at approximately 1,900 GPM, and advanced engine monitoring arrangements.
Accommodation configuration includes 5 cabins with 16 berths together with additional industrial berthing for 12 personnel. Internal arrangements include dedicated mess facilities, lounge areas, and operational support spaces allowing the vessel to support offshore technical crews, subsea specialists, project personnel, military detachments, and mission-specific operators during extended deployments.
The vessel’s integrated electronics and navigation package includes Furuno radar systems, dual GPS arrangements, Beier autopilot and DP integration, AIS, depth sounder, GMDSS capability, CyScan and RadaScan systems, VSAT broadband communications, electronic chart systems, and advanced offshore communication infrastructure supporting both domestic and international offshore operations. Overall, the vessel represents a highly versatile multi-role DP1 offshore platform optimized for technically demanding offshore projects requiring large clear deck capability, advanced positioning systems, subsea deployment functionality, and mission-specific customization flexibility.
