2008 bld high speed vehicle–passenger catamaran, Austal Aust, constructed in Al alloy HSC design and extensively refitted/upgraded 2025, classed LR + 1 A 1 HSLCR, designed for fast ferry, commuter and offshore transfer ops, featuring twin hull catamaran configuration optimized for high stability at speed and reduced resistance, with lightweight marine grade Al superstructure and high strength welded structure.
Vsl arranged with dedicated pax saloon spaces, vehicle deck arrangements (where fitted) and multipurpose flexible cargo/passenger configuration depending on service mode. Propulsion via high speed marine diesel M/E driving waterjet or surface drive configuration . Designed service speed and performance characteristics typical of HSC class vessels, enabling rapid transit between coastal and offshore routes.
Compliant with HSC safety requirements under LR notation, with integrated nav and comms suite for high traffic coastal ops, full SOLAS compliant LSA/FFA systems, and upgraded 2025 accommodation fit-out incl HVAC, electrical distribution and pax comfort systems. Vsl arranged for high frequency service cycles with emphasis on fuel efficiency, redundancy and operational uptime, with structural and outfit enhancements completed during refit to extend lifecycle and maintain class compliance.
