$attachmentsHOS#572 | 2004 | 21 m | US Built Twin Screw Utility Tug | For P&C Sale
2004 US-built utility tug constructed by Eastern Shipbuilding Group (Florida), presented as a compact, rugged coastal/harbour work platform with GT 87 and NT 69, designed for nearshore towage, assist, utility and general marine support operations. The vessel features LOA 20.73 m, B 7.32 m and D 2.44 m, with a shallow operational D of 1.52 m, enabling versatile access to restricted ports, rivers and coastal working areas while maintaining stability and robust seakeeping for its class. Deck arrangement provides an operational clear deck area of approx 8.53 m x 4.27 m (28 ft x 14 ft), suitable for light cargo, towing equipment or mission-specific outfitting.
Propulsion is provided by twin JD 6081 M/E units developing a combined BHP 600 HP (approx 447 kW), arranged in twin screw configuration through Twin Disc reduction gearboxes with ratio 4.05 : 1, delivering efficient bollard pull characteristics for short-sea towing and harbour assist duties. Propeller arrangement is FPW 1.12 m x 0.91 m, optimised for low-speed thrust and manoeuvrability. Electrical generation is supported by onboard auxiliary machinery comprising 1 x GM 3-71 genset rated 30 kW and 1 x GM 2-71 genset rated 20 kW, ensuring redundancy for essential services, hydraulics, navigation systems and accommodation loads.
Tankage capacity includes FO approx 37.9 m3 (10,000 gal), FW approx 49.2 m3 (13,000 gal) and LO storage via 2 drums (approx minimal service volume), supporting extended coastal endurance without frequent bunkering dependency. The vessel is fitted with an elevated wheelhouse positioned at approx 8.23 m above WL, providing enhanced operational visibility for towing, line handling and close-quarters manoeuvring.
Navigation and communication suite includes 3 x VHF fixed units and 2 x handheld VHF radios, Furuno MKII radar with max range 36 nm, and Furuno GPS positioning system, integrated with electric/hydraulic steering for responsive helm control and precise station-keeping in harbour environments. The vessel is non-DP, US flag, and classed as a straightforward, mechanically reliable utility tug platform, prioritising simplicity, ease of maintenance and operational robustness over complex dynamic positioning systems. Overall, this unit represents a proven, workhorse-grade coastal tug with strong utility value, efficient twin-screw propulsion, shallow draft capability and dependable auxiliary redundancy, suitable for towage, harbour assist, barge handling and general offshore support roles within sheltered and nearshore waters.
