This self-elevating Jack-Up Drilling Unit is built by reputable U.S.A. Shipyard in 1976. The rig has a light displacement of 10,625 M.T. (10,457.67 L.T.) and measures 71 m in LOA with a breadth of 65 m. It is capable of drilling to a maximum depth of 25,000 ft in water depths up to 300 ft. The rig has a GRT of 6,218 T and is supported by three legs, each measuring 433 ft in length, fitted with a BMC rack and pinion jacking system with 15 pinions per leg. The cantilever extends 10 ft either side of the centerline, and each spud tank measures 68 ft in diameter.
The unit operates at an average draft of 14 ft and is powered by three auxiliary diesel generator sets, each equipped with EMD 12-645-E8-2 engines, 12-cylinder, 2-stroke, producing a combined total output of 3,639 kW / 4,950 HP at 900 rpm. Power is distributed through an SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) system by Ross Hill.
Drilling equipment includes a USS Oilwell Supply E-3000 drawworks driven by two DC motors (Gen Motors D79) with a combined power of 3,000 HP, a National Oilwell 37.5 in rotary table driven by a DC motor, and a National Supply PS-2 top drive. The travelling block is a Continental EMSCO RS-60-8, and drilling mud is handled by three USS Oilwell Supply A-1700-PT triplex pumps rated at 1,000 HP each. The BOP stack consists of one Hydril ABOP annular (13.625 in, 5,000 psi), two Cameron ram-type units (13.625 in, 10,000 psi), and a Cameron main stack (13.625 in, 10,000 psi). The BOP handling system is comprised of four 25 T air-operated winches mounted on a trolley system.
The rig is equipped with a Hydril MSP diverter (21¼ in, 2,000 psi) and a choke and kill manifold rated at 10,000 psi with 3-1/16 in chokes. Deck equipment includes two NOV DR ECO 60 DNS cranes in working condition and a helideck rated for Sikorsky S-61 operations. Accommodation is provided for 101 POB.
