The SWATH hull design along with her four active stabilizer fins produces minimalized and slower roll motions then monohull and catamaran vessels, this design concept causes less passenger discomfort and seasickness due to the fact that the larger portion of the hull that gives displacement is below the ocean surface and a smaller portion of the waterplane area of the hull is above the ocean surface while underway. The vessel is equipped with a pair of Rolls-Royce Allison 501 KFS5 gas marine turbines that produces a total of 11,600 HP coupled with its Philadelphia Gears reduction gears and Wärtsilä variable pitch propellers, which delivers a maximum speed of 30 knots and a cruising speed of 25 knots while operating in a sea state of up to 4 meters. Built under the guidelines of the US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 46 Subchapter K, ABS Aluminum Vessels Under 90m, 1990 ABS High-Speed Craft Rules and 1996 ABS SWATH Guide and was issued a USCG certificate of inspection and obtained ABS A1 and ABS AMS classifications (expired) to transport 250 passengers on two enclosed decks in the maximum amount of comfort. The vessel is the first advanced high-speed SWATH (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull) with a proven track record that was utilized to carry passengers in support of exploration and production of offshore energy resources. The vessel was operating in Campos Basin off the coast of Brazil, until her departure in the fall of 2003.
Owners will consider lease or joint venture and financing to qualified Buyers. The vessel only worked five years after being built before being laid up. Vessel built cost is over US$22m and would cost US$30m to be built today as per current market evaluation.
