⚓ Q2/ Q3 2026:
Recent market observations indicate a notable decline in the availability of modern DP2 offshore support vessels, particularly within the AHTS and multipurpose segments.
Owners are increasingly reluctant to commit vessels to long-term charter structures at current high-rate levels, anticipating further upward movement in the market. This behavior is effectively reducing accessible supply, even where vessels are technically available.
In parallel, reactivation of stacked < 2012 built tonnage continues to present operational and financial challenges, with many units requiring significant capital expenditure and time before re-entering service especially in the U.S.
The result is a tightening spot and term market, with charterers facing reduced optionality and increasing competition for capable vessels.
In this context, acquisition strategies are gaining traction as a means of securing guaranteed access to tonnage while also capturing potential upside in asset values globally.
A small number of well-positioned offshore AHTS units and MPSV’s are currently being assessed within the market, including units offering immediate deployment capability as well as forward-delivery newbuilds.
Given the pace of change, it is expected that availability of such assets will narrow further in the near term.
Parties with active requirements are encouraged to engage in early-stage discussions to secure positioning ahead of broader market movement.
