This pontoon barge, constructed in 2012 and classed under RINA C notation for multipurpose heavy-lift offshore/ shallow waters construction/ installation operations, features a welded steel hull with an LOA of 136 meters and a beam of 36 meters. With a molded depth of 8 meters, the barge operates at a draft ranging from 3 to 5 meters, depending on loading conditions. The deadweight capacity is 19,800 metric tons, with a gross tonnage of 12,491 metric tons. Designed to handle heavy loads, the barge has a deck strength rated at 20 metric tons per square meter, accommodating significant project equipment and materials. The total deck area measures 3,400 square meters, providing extensive space for operational tasks while setting its accommodations capacity (Pax on board) with flexibility, as per required end client scopes of work.
Power generation is provided by two Caterpillar main diesel generators, each rated at 753 kW, supplemented by a John Deere auxiliary generator of 153 kW. An emergency power system includes a 123 kW John Deere generator, ensuring redundancy in critical projects scenarios.
The onboard crane is a heavy-duty pedestal-mounted revolving unit, the MC 35000 DLS model. The crane’s main boom extends 63 meters, with a boom top length of 75 meters. It has a primary lifting capacity of 1,400 metric tons SWL at a 12.5-meter radius, reducing to 350 metric tons at a 53.5-meter radius. The crane provides full 360-degree slewing capability, with a rotation speed of one full revolution every six minutes. The auxiliary hoist, or runner, has a lifting capacity between 30 and 90 metric tons, supporting varied lifting tasks.
The ballast system includes dual automatic anti-heeling pumps with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters per hour each, designed to counteract listing during load transfers. Four additional automatic trim pumps, each rated at 1,000 cubic meters per hour, provide further stability. The main automatic ballasting system is rated at 8,000 cubic meters (m3) per hour, supports water transfer and level adjustments.
The barge’s mooring system is equipped with four double-drum winches, each with a rated pull of 50 metric tons. The braking system consists of eight (8-Point) Mooring Units, each capable of a 60 metric ton brake load and a 120 metric ton holding capacity. The mooring configuration uses 44 mm diameter wires, with a total length of 1,200 meters. The anchoring arrangement includes eight Flipper Delta anchors of varying weights (3 x 10 metric tons, 1 x 9 metric tons, 3 x 7 metric tons, 1 x 5.4 metric tons), offering secure station-keeping in challenging offshore harsh environments.
Communication systems onboard meet GMDSS standards, featuring T&T Sailor VHF radios and Ocean Signal SafeSea devices, supported by McMurdo S4 Rescue SART and Ocean Signal EPIRB units for emergency signalling.
Accommodation is designed for a fixed crew of 12 personnel, with provisions to expand capacity up to 60 persons, or max she is certified to accommodate up to 240 Pax for project crew(s). Waste management systems include a large sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 1.5 cubic meters per day, and the freshwater production system has a capability of up to 3 cubic meters per day. Tank storage includes 38 cubic meters for fuel, 2 cubic meters for sludge, 5 cubic meters for treated sewage, 8 cubic meters for seawater buffer, and a 400 cubic meter drink-water tank.
Firefighting capabilities consist of a main fire pump and an emergency fire pump, both Victor S83 models, compliant with offshore fire safety requirements. Currently the barge is fitted with four life rafts (12-person capacity each) and 60 life jackets, meeting the SOLAS, NMA, and MLC-2006 standards for safety.
